Micro Meditation in Daily Life

For July try this simple technique throughout your day to help you tune in more deeply to your body and mind.

A few times a day (once an hour is ideal) take a couple of minutes, stop whatever you are doing, and tune inside. Begin by noticing the pattern of your breathing – simply being aware of it without changing anything. Scan through your body and feel its sensations. Then notice how you feel in your mood. Last of all be aware of any thoughts going through your mind.

Notice whatever is happening without trying to change anything and without judging it. Be gentle with yourself and let your sensations, thoughts and feelings just be, giving them space however they are in the moment.

In this technique we are bringing mindfulness into our daily life – helping us become more aware of ourselves and our reactions, while at the same time being more able to step back from them when we need to.

After a few days take some time to reflect on the practice. What have you learned about yourself? What have you noticed in your body and your mind? Has it helped you in your daily life?
