“Meditation is a living activity, an inherently experiential activity”.
(Bhante Henepola Gunaratana).

This intermediate day long course is suitable if you have already attended an 'Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation' or one of the evening classes, or if you already meditate and need some guidance with your current practice. The class is designed to help you deepen and refine your practice and to deal with the issues which arise for all of us at some point as we meditate and progress on our path. On the day you will learn how to:
  • Keep your practice alive, fresh and enjoyable
  • Deal with resistance which arises in meditation
  • Deal with the challenges that the mind throws up in our meditation, such as boredom, restlessness, lethargy or negative emotions. In the Buddhist tradition these are known as the 'hindances' as it is normal for them to arise at some point in our practice.
  • How to use all these challenges to expand your meditation, and to go beyond the habits of the mind into deeper levels of inner stillness, peace and bliss.
The day will also help you get going again with a regular practice if you feel you need some inspiration to kick start it.

During the course, led by Zeenat Cameron, we will go deeply into meditation practice and you will be guided in a few different techniques. As a basis for our practice we will look at the foundations of mindfulness, which include mindfulness of body, mindfulness of effort, mindfulness of mind and mindfulness of life. Using the foundations as a guide we can refine our practice and deepen our meditation. There will also be plenty of time for sharing and discussion.
